Long Break

Blogroll No Comments »

I haven’t posted or logged on to my site in a long time. With moving into a new house, school, work, and being sick I haven’t had a lot of time for anything. Now that I’m not sick and things are settling down I will be updating my site much more often.

HTTP Pipelining

Software No Comments »

Change these settings to speed up Firefox by increasing the maximum number of simultaneous downloads from a site. Only change the settings that are in this article. Changing other settings could result in unexpected performance. This is only recommended for broadband users as dial-up users will see no speed or minimal speed difference. If you don’t feel comfortable changing these settings by config there is a great extension by Edwin Martin that does exactly this and more. Click here to check it out.

1)Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which speeds up page loading immensely.

2) Change following entries:

Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once. If you are using dial-up only set it to around 8 or 9 as setting it to high will overload your connection.

3. Last right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0″. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

New Switch

Blogroll No Comments »

The router I have now is the default Verizon router given to you when you get FIOS. The max speed of the router is only 100mbs and while that used to be good enough  as with technology everything keeps getting faster and faster and 100mbs isn’t enough.

This switch is a NETGEAR GS108T 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit Smart Switch which will make my home network go much faster than it is now.

John Edwards

Politics No Comments »

Today in government class we have had to give a three to four minutes speech on a candidate that we picked out of a hat. My candidate was John Edwards and  I used a power point to do my speech and even though we were supposed to memorize our speech I didn’t. Check out my power point presentation below.

Pamela

Being up in Massachusetts I had to go visit Pam cause she would of killed me If I hadn’t. She lives in Boston and where I was staying was on the west side of Massachusetts, Springfield. Instead of one of us riding all the way to the other person’s house we decided to meet up half way. It took forever to come to a decision on where we were going to meet but when we did we were going to meet at a mall. We finally met up and went to go see a movie and then we had to take me back all the way to Springfield. Lets just say that was an interesting trip.

Snowboarding

Blogroll No Comments »

Yeah well I’m pretty sore. My legs hurt worse than my butt cause I did a lot better than the last time I went. The mountain was good with only a couple of the trails that were to icy to go down. We went down about 20 times and only towards the end did I have to take a break. There were company’s out today for some reason and were giving away free drinks and warmed granola bars. Well I’m really tired so that’s all for my experience.

Massachusetts Trip

Blogroll No Comments »

So today my dad, my sister and I flew up to Massachusetts to visit family and to go snowboarding. We’re going for the presidents day weekend as my sister and my dad went last year and it’s now become kind of a ritual to go up there every year at this time. We are going to go snowboarding tomorrow at Wachusett Mountain and I’m hoping I still remember how to snowboard. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.

FBLA Districts Competition

2007 - Web Site Development - 1st place
2006 - Business Decision Making - 1st place

I had district competition for FBLA today which meant i had to get up at 5 o’clock in the morning to make the bus. My competition was Website Site Development along with two other teammates, Cara and Will. We sat in the lobby for what seemed like forever each event was delayed and with every passing event it got worse and worse we finally got to give our presentation. The 5 minute presentation that was to be given was news to me as my adviser said we didn’t have to do one. We finished that and then went to the auditorium to hear our names get called for first place.

Super Tuesday

Politics No Comments »

Super Tuesday, the day when 24 presidential primary’s are decided in one day which usually determines the outcome of the race. As of right now McCain is in the lead with 475 delegates making 363 more delegates just today. Behind him are runners up Hillary Clinton with 371 delegates and Barack Obama with 306 thus far. I still haven’t got on and researched in depth on which president will get my vote but know when I do vote I will know how and why I am voting for them.

First Day At Work Being 18

Blogroll No Comments »

My first day at work being 18 was pretty much the same until it came to me going home. When the minors were aloud to go home that no longer included me. I stayed at work until 11:30 and am now at home doing AP Literature homework until i fall asleep. The shows i usually watch on Monday’s I now watch even later during the night as work is later.
